Entertainment Law

Aside from my personal injury practice, I also represent many bands, artists, and record labels. I am a musician myself and the son of musician who toured nationwide. I know the amount of effort and sacrifice that musicians put into creating their art and I want to be there to help you protect those efforts.

The language of music contracts is pretty universal, therefore, even though I am licensed to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, I can review and negotiate contracts for bands and musicians across the Country.  I have represented clients in Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City, Connecticut, and Puerto Rico to name a few.

For Musicians and Artists

I am here to help artists and musicians: obtain copyrights, trademark, mechanical licenses, and band partnership agreements. I can also make all the arrangements to ensure that publishing rights and royalties are paid through BMI or ASCAP.

Also, if you are fortunate enough to sell a song or sign with a record label, it is in your best interest to have an experienced attorney such as myself review the contract for your recording agreement and perhaps negotiate a better deal.

Reasonable Fees

I know that artists and musicians struggle at times to make ends meet and with this in mind, I keep my hourly fees reasonable. I am looking to build long term relationships with my clients and I want to be your attorney from the garage to Madison Square Garden.

Also, some cases may be taken on a contingency fee basis.  Much like personal injury claims, on a contingency fee case I will handle all of your entertainment law needs and take a percentage of the contract (such as a recording contract, license agreement, etc) for payment.  This percentage is usually between 5-10% and like personal injury cases you do not have to pay any money up front and you will not owe me any money if the contract falls through.

For Record Labels

I can also assist record labels by: creating the corporation, trademark, drafting exclusive recording agreements for the artists you look to sign, negotiating with artists and music venues, preparing and reviewing record distribution agreements.
